Natalia Crespo Eirin was born on March 25, 1976 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She came to the United States at the age of 3, and grew up in Port Chester, New York. Natalia was known as a well-rounded, beautiful, warm and compassionate young lady, admired by her peers and the community. She attended Port Chester High School and graduated with Regents honors, despite having been diagnosed at the age of 16 with a brain tumor. While the next three to four years after her diagnosis were the most difficult of her young adult life, Natalia still found the perseverance to remain a vibrant and extraordinarily active leader in not only academic and extra-curricular activities in school, but also within the community of Port Chester. The honors, activities and programs in which Natalia was successful include:
Awarded the Community Youth Hero of Westchester County • (Four time) Lead actor in several PCHS spring and fall musical productions • Two year Drum Major of the award-winning PCHS Marching Band • Crowned Senior Year Homecoming Queen • Four year Jr. Varsity and Varsity Cheerleader • Active Senior Class Vice-President • Active member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Italian Club, Thespian Club, Concert Choir, Concert Band (Clarinet, Trumpet, French Horn), and Peer Leadership Group (PLG).
After graduating high school, Natalia attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City with hopes of fulfilling her dreams of acting and singing in the arts, though due to health complications, Natalia was unable to complete her studies with AADA. While some people might have looked at this illness as a limitation to what they could accomplish, Natalia instead decided to pursue another dream, that being, work in the international studies field. She graduated with a BS degree from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York and subsequently began working for several international corporations including Fort James Corporation and Nestle Waters of America.
In 1997, Natalia met the love of her life, Mr. Fernando Eirin also of Montevideo, Uruguay. With Fernando by her side, Natalia lived a life full of exciting events, vacations and true happiness. In 2002, Natalia had her dream wedding in Montevideo, Uruguay. Natalia and Fernando resided in Norwalk, CT.
On May 13, 2006, Natalia lost her battle with brain cancer after enduring 18 major brain surgeries over a span of 14 years. As well as chemotherapy, gamma knife radiation and shunt placements.
